I really enjoy shopping at Continente Modelo. The store is always clean, well-organized, and easy to navigate. They offer a wide variety of products, from fresh local produce to international items, so it’s easy to find everything in one place. The fruits and vegetables are always fresh, and the meat and fish sections are well-stocked and of good quality.

They don’t have cucumbers :) But overall nice supermarket. 1 hour parking for free.

Yesterday, Tuesday, January 6th, I visited Continente Modelo - Cancela during my tenth day in Portugal, and it was an experience worth sharing! As it was my first time in a large Portuguese supermarket, I was impressed not only by the very affordable prices but also by the exceptional service provided by Mrs. Carla Abreu at the cashier. We arrived at the checkout expecting to take the shopping baskets to the parking area, but like in some countries I’ve visited, this was not allowed. Reluctant to purchase plastic bags, Carla went above and beyond by kindly offering to get us a cart herself. She walked all the way to the opposite side of the store and returned with a cart, all the while maintaining a warm smile and a genuinely cordial tone. Her professionalism didn’t stop there. Carla took the time to disinfect the cashier station and every surface that our purchases (packaged food, fruits, and vegetables) had touched, which I greatly appreciated (it is apparently common in Portugal from what I have heard afterwards). After an exhausting day hiking the PR8, her kindness and attention to detail were a refreshing and uplifting end to the day. Carla is exactly the type of employee who enhances customer loyalty and leaves a lasting impression. I’d happily go the extra mile to shop at another Continente Modelo because of the service she provided. Highly recommended for its affordable prices, wide variety, and excellent staff. I’ll definitely return!
